Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Persist in Search for Killer.

Two students who lost their lives in the recent violent attack on the university campus were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared sympathies on social media, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the renowned school, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a search at a lodging about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a police source told the media outlet.

Police that raided the hotel found two handguns and two ammunition clips when the individual was arrested, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was released from the hospital, said the university president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a independent school in the city of Durham, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

More Condolences

Cook was remembered at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at the university she was an incredible light in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she aided her club and fellow classmates,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his promising future.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the country's seventh most historic college with about over seven thousand undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents reported in the US so far in this year, according to records. That Monday marked the 349th day of the year.
