Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Against Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden Fall Classic since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."
The veteran has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, making him third in history behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another player in the world that I'd choose in that spot except for Springer with his October magic," noted manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their work throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.
Toronto's team claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
