EU Officials Condemn US Action as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, following the travel bans were placed on individuals who have been central to efforts to introduce laws governing US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to punish American viewpoints they disagree with,” wrote a senior US official online. “The current administration will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives joined the French president in condemning the decision.
The restrictions were imposed on Tuesday against a former EU commissioner who helped draft the bloc’s digital governance law, along with several activists fighting false information, including two in Germany and two in the UK.
