Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
