Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with performances so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to the top, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
