The Streaming Giant Casts Perfect Star for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, although the true confrontation won’t unfold until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

The platform declared Tuesday that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Mr. 2. This character can use their power to morph into an perfect replica of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and animated series.

Escola will work alongside a number of recently announced actors who will portray Baroque Works to the screen, featuring head Mr. 0, played by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Though the role is a major member of the organization, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a significant shift in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could indicate additional alterations to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is set to return for its next installment on the tenth of March, 2026.
